Privacy Policy

What we collect, who else sees it, how long we keep it — in plain language, with no clauses that do not apply to us.

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Who this covers

A11ytek provides digital accessibility services. This policy covers both our website, a11ytek.com, and A11ytek Monitor, our accessibility monitoring service at monitor.a11ytek.com.

If you have a question about anything on this page, email info@a11ytek.com.

What we collect, and when

When you fill in a form on this website

Your name, your organisation, your email address, your website address, the service you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message box. That is all the forms ask for.

We do not ask for a phone number. We do not have a mailing list, so filling in a form does not subscribe you to anything.

When you use A11ytek Monitor

  • the email address you sign up with, and your name if you provide one
  • the website addresses you ask us to test
  • the results of those tests, and how they change over time
  • if you take a paid plan, a record that you did and which plan it is

When you simply read this website

Our analytics records which pages were viewed, roughly which country the visitor was in, which browser was used, and which site or search sent them. It uses cookies to do this. There is a full section on that below.

What we never see

We never see your card details. Payments are handled entirely by an external payment processor. Your card number, its expiry date and its security code go to them and never reach us. All we receive is confirmation that a payment succeeded, the last four digits of the card, and which plan you chose.

Why we collect it

  • to reply to you
  • to run the accessibility tests you have asked for, and show you the results
  • to keep your account working, and to take payment if you are on a paid plan
  • to understand which pages of our own website are useful

That is the whole list. We do not sell your information, we do not trade it, and we do not use it for advertising.

Analytics and cookies

This website uses Google Analytics. It places cookies in your browser so that it can tell a returning visitor from a new one, and it reports to us in aggregate.

We use it for exactly one thing: working out which pages people find useful. We do not use it for advertising, we do not connect it to anything you send us through a form, and we do not build profiles of individual people.

If you would rather not be counted, block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this website stops working if you do.

Who else handles your information

Your information may pass through the following kinds of service provider:

  • our website host, which serves the pages you are reading
  • a form-handling service, which delivers website form submissions to our inbox
  • our analytics provider, described above
  • our database and server hosting providers, which store A11ytek Monitor accounts and test results
  • our payment processor, for paid subscriptions
  • our email provider, which carries our correspondence with you

Each of these is an established provider used under contract, and each receives only what it needs in order to do its part.

Where things are stored. A11ytek Monitor accounts and test results are held on servers in Canada. Website form submissions, analytics and card payments are handled by providers that operate in the United States, so that information may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be reachable by authorities there under their own laws.

If you want to know exactly which companies these are — and procurement teams often do — email info@a11ytek.com and we will tell you.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is genuinely useful, and no longer.

  • Website enquiries: kept while they are still relevant to a conversation or a piece of work, then cleared out.
  • A11ytek Monitor account details and test results: for as long as your account is open. The history over time is the point of the service.
  • After an account is closed: account details and test results are removed once they are no longer needed. A minimal billing record is kept longer, because tax law requires it.
  • Email correspondence: kept while it is useful to the working relationship.

If you want your information removed sooner than any of this, ask us and we will do it.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete what we hold, where we are not legally required to keep it
  • send you a copy of your data
  • stop emailing you

Email info@a11ytek.com. We will respond within thirty days, and there is no charge for a reasonable request.

Email from us

If we have written to you about our services and you would rather we had not, reply with the word unsubscribe. We will remove your address and not write to you again.

We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every message we send includes a way to stop receiving them.

Security

  • everything travels over HTTPS
  • A11ytek Monitor accounts are password-protected, and the database restricts each account to its own data
  • card details are never stored by us
  • access to personal information is limited to those who need it to deliver the service

No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would tell you and report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires.

Children

Our services are sold to organisations and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 13.

Links to other websites

Our pages link out to standards bodies, government guidance and other organisations. Once you follow a link, this policy no longer applies — the policy of the site you have gone to does.

Changes to this policy

If we change it, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant we will say so here rather than quietly editing it.
