Free Heading & Alt-Text Checker

Paste a page's HTML to see its heading outline, spot skipped heading levels, and find images missing alt text. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Tip: in your browser, right-click a page → "View page source" (or press Ctrl/Cmd+U), copy it, and paste here.

How to read the results

A good page has exactly one <h1> and never skips heading levels (for example, jumping from an <h2> straight to an <h4>). Every meaningful image needs descriptive alt text; decorative images should have empty alt (alt="") so screen readers skip them. This tool flags missing alt attributes — but only a person can judge whether the alt text is actually meaningful. For a full review, see our checklists or book an audit.
